Adobe refuses to open

I have adobe reader 7.0 installed on my pc.
Recently it downloaded few updates patches but while installation of updates my pc got restarted so updates were not fully installed. Now when i try to open any pdf file a cmd window flashes and nothing happens then.
I uninstalled the software thinking it might work after reinstallation but i cant install it either.
Plz suggest remedy.

do one thing.....
remove the all the key associate to the adobe software.
run->regedit->HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->Adobe

do right click there and delete.

then try to install adobe again.
hope it will work.
