A new rig at 20k .......

hey guys 1 of my friend want a new pc for general purpose and he wants only intel rig....so please ggive me some suggestions....



1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Generic answers will not work. Be exact and avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans:routine office work,music and movies not hd though

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:20k cant be extended

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans:No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans:XP/ 7 home premium 32 bit

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans:500GB

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:Yes 19" 1280X1024 or any other which is good

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans:speakers.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans:next 3-4 days

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans:yes

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:Surat/No

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: He want wireless keyboard and mouse only........

At a budget of 20K, only Intel based config possible is Core2Duo based ones which are obsolete now a days. Better get a Athlon II X4 based config which is way better:-

GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-S2P @ REV 3.1 @ 2.6k
Corsair 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Ram @ 1.1k
Seagate 250GB HDD @ 3.3K
Zebronics Cabinet with 450W PSU @ 1.1K
LG 22X SATA DVD Writer @ 0.9K
Acer V193HQ 18.5" LCD 1366X768 @ 4.7K
Logitech MK100 Keyboard & Mouse Combo @ 0.5K
Zebronics/Intex 600VA UPS @ 1.2K

Total 20.2K.
This is the best VFM config I can create and it will play all the HD movies too.

^^ cilus can u recommend a led for <5k price range 19inch (mainly for photo restoration ,photoshop purpose)

I don't think any 19" LED LCD is available @ SUB 5k range. I you can go with LCD then look for Acer 20" 205H (1600X900) @ 5.3K.

The problem is my friend is not ready to go with AMD options....I dont know why he is doing this...

Then look for the Intel Sandybridge Dual Core processors.

But do remember, performance wise it is even inferior to AThlon II X3 440.
