The Snapdragon S4 'Krait' Version defeats the Galaxy S3 but the Indian Version has an inferior Snapdragon S3 Processor which is not as powerful as the S4 version.

About the Home button issue, the S3 has Home Button Lag because the phone actually waits for the second press in case the user wants to use S Voice. Just go to S Voice on your friend's S3 then press the Option key>Settings and uncheck Open via Home Key. Then compare the home button lag.
