Ya it's a bit too basic as i installed it yesterday itself and wrote the guide the same day. Also i am new to Ubuntu so the guide had to be basic.

Its also good... but HD 485 are better and more comfortable. Price will be comparable or maybe less than HD485s.

I have also PMed u a link. Check ur PM. U can get HD 555 from Delhi for about Rs. 6000. A bit above ur budget i guess. I got HD 485 from U.S for Rs. 3000.

I have DG965RY + Core 2 Duo E6300.
Currently ATI X200 > X3000 but that's purely because of the poor G965 chipset drivers.
With newer drivers about to be released (Version 14.26) the performance would be better than ATI X200. Version 14.26 will add full Hardware support for Pixel Shaders and...
No.... Microsoft loves pirated Windows... it adds to their popularity. If windows was not pirated, everybody would have used GNU/Linux (at least in India) and thus GNU/Linux would have been more popular. So, Windows piracy actually hurts GNU/Linux.
U can try Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. It has nice graphics, doesn't require a big graphics card, is free and has plenty of servers...

I succeeded in installing Mandriva 2007 by adding "all-generic-ide" kernel parameter on boot. I didn't select legaci mode (AHCI) from the BIOS though.
Now i am facing another...
today i tried to install FC6, Mandriva 2006, Suse Linux 10.1 from the respective DVDs. The system boots from the DVD but after that it is unable to find the installation media.
My configuration is as follows:
1) Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
2) Intel DG965RY motherboard.
3) Western Digital 250GB...
