All configuration (new and upgrades) related queries here

^ AFAIK, intel 845 based boards support a max of DDR 333 Mhz, but i'm not sure. Either way, no harm in going for 400Mhz DDR memory - there's not much of a price difference. DDR2 is a poor joke - the latencies on those things are pathetic ! I'm not sure higher speeds would make a difference.

All configuration (new and upgrades) related queries here

Yep you can use memory rated for any speed and it will work at its maximum speed provided that max speed is supported by your motherboard. What motherboard do you have ?

    How 2 monitor gpu temperatures?

Monitoring temperatures depends solely on the GPU in question - the FX series never supported temperature monitoring AFAIK. Only the newer 6xxx series support temperature monitoring. P.s: Nice Car PC you got in your avatar ! Did you fix that up yourself? :)

All configuration (new and upgrades) related queries here

Hey first off digitized - great work with the configs ! Though a couple of errors i'd like to point out : You're talking about the HT (HypterTransport) bus, not HyperThreading! It is quite true that this is AMD's weak point - if you start up multiple applications, it cannot properly...

    RAM Modules --- Help Needed

^ Dual-channel for Athlon64 is irrelevant of what board you have! It depends on the platform/socket you are using - Socket 754 does not support Dual-channel memory (only Socket 939 does). As per RAID, AFAIK performance increases ARE noticeable.. however the added risk of the disks failing...

Ordering this config.. Details with pics.. :)

^ The Opterons available here are not the Socket 939 versions. Considering they're all sold out in the US itself, would be almost impossible to find them here.

some questions on nvidia and ati

    1. Yes you can combine nvidia cards from different brands and run them in SLI. However, the GPU should still be the same, eg. an XFX 6600GT should be combined with a Leadtek 6600GT only, you cannot combine it with a 6800GT. 2. AFAIK, the need for a crossfire master card has been eliminated...

    WILL OVERCLOCKING KILL THE PROCESSOR

    1. Thats a wrong notion that AMD procs are the only ones that OverClock. Even Intel procs support OC'ing. The Northwoods were very good OC'ers. Even the current Prescotts overclock well provided you have *very* good cooling. A P4 1.5Ghz is definately no Northwood - looks more like a Williamette...

    Buying Computer Components

You can recognise the Venice core by looking at the Heatspreader on the processor - look for the ending DAA4BP for E3 Venice or DAA4BW for the E6 Venice . The heatspreader is easily visible through the AMD Processor box window. Have attached a pic for you to understand what I mean...

    RAM Modules --- Help Needed

@HellGuardian, you're on a Socket 754 Athlon64 system. Socket 754 systems do not support dual-channel memory, so do not add another mem module to expect dual-channel performance! ;) On the other hand, 1GB of RAM will do wonders for your gaming needless of dual-channel support not being there...

HELP NEEDED URGENTLY WITH MOTHER BOARD

Use memtest = *www.memtest86.com/ If you have a CD-writer, Download - Memtest86 v3.2 ISO image and burn it to a CD. Reboot, setting your PC to boot from your CD drive in the BIOS. Let it boot from the memtest CD and use it to test your memory. A single "pass" will take roughly around...

What's the BIG thing about this brand..??

^ LOL! Where did you get that from ?? Check out: - *www.bfgtech.com/6600GT_PCIX.html - *www.big-tek.com/geforce6600PCIgt128.htm Notice the similarity between the two cards? Apparently both BFG and BIG source their 6600GT cards from the same manufacturer. I believe that...

    DVD Writer from SONY

Actually the Sony DRU-810A is a Benq DW1640 OEM. But yes, do go for the Benq itself. If it isnt available, you can opt for this model. You would lose out on the advanced Qsuite features available in the Benq. Of course you could always flash with Benq firmware, but thats another thing now.

    TwinMOS

I'd rate it better than the two if not equal to it. The TwinMos is definately good quality stuff, comes sealed/box-packed avoiding any chance of you picking up fake stuff. Comes with a 3yr warranty too. It can overclock a tad bit as well.

    Sempron Vs Athlon...Urgent!!!!!!

The performance difference between the two is pretty less. I'd estimate it to be around 10 ~ 15% on account of the 200Mhz lower clock speed, and lower L2 cache. If you're looking to save some bucks, no harm going for the Sempron. But I would definately say NO to the 32-bit Sempron. The...

    CPU WHANT'S HELP

^ This usually means your PSU (Power Supply Unit/SMPS) is being pushed to its limit. Please mention the voltage of the line on which it is changing. As long as the increased voltage is within +5% of the default voltage it should not be a cause for concern . You can increase the "threshold" value...
