Molex splitter to add a fan - dangerous?

Thanks lucky star and spitfire. Since opinions were divided, I decided to take out the power supply and check (and clean the years of accumulated muck as well). I found out that the power supply was a VIP 150W!!! (Guess the assembler really stiffed me five years back). In any case, decided...

Molex splitter to add a fan - dangerous?

Hi, I have an old PC (P4 1.7, 845GL MB, 1GB RAM, 2 optical drives and 2 hard drives). The PC is about 4-5 years old, and I bought it assembled, so I really don't know the power supply wattage (i'm assuming 200-250 W) nor can I see any rating on the power supply without disassembling the PC...

Hi, I have an old Acer 3300U which stopped working and started making some clicking noises. On opening it up, I found out that the belt was loose. Is it possible to get a new belt for the scanner? Where in Mumbai? I don't really want to buy a new scanner since my use is very occasional. If...

    Which 32" LCD television?

Thanks Vivek, useful information; shall definitely keep that in mind when I'm buying my next TV after HDTV content comes to India; for the moment though, I am very happy with my purchase - like I said, I only intend to watch TV / the usual DVDs on it. It may be useful for other members who...

    Which 32" LCD television?

Thanks everyone for the recommendations - was leaning towards the Samsung myself (because of the price/performance ratio - can't justify to myself the Sony premium) but finally ended up buying a Philips 32TA1600 today - picture quality seemed good and Vijay Sales in Mumbai kicked in a Philips...

New PC: How to use old IDE HDD

I am thinking of going in for a new PC but would like to use my old HDD (IDE) (lots of data on it) in it as well as two DVD drives. Given that most new motherboards have only one IDE cable (2 devices), I could only think of the following solution. Connect my current HDD and DVD drive on the...

    Unable to connect to router

Thanks Ankur Thanks for your help Ankur. Turned out to be an ip address conflict between my router and the modem, so was able to resolve with the help of Netgear support. Extremely annoying, however, that Netgear should not have even addressed the problem in their documentation / setup CD.
