Try re-installing.. You may check with other dvd's.. coz some dvd's wont support 8x speed even if its mentioned as 8x.. if doesn't fix the problem, Please let me know.

similar problem with my westren digital 160 gb hard disk.. it failed to boot many times to xp.. after i re wrote the MBR it worked well.. try formatting the entrire the entire harddisk and recreate the partition table.. if anything wrong in this let me know :-) :cry:

hi i installed ubuntu on my harddisk with vista and xp preinstalled... as it happened i lost my vista boot loader after i formatted the linux drive... help me to recover my vista....

that amit_talkin one isnt a genuine xp... sp3 is not yet officially released... you are using an unattended cd version with some softwares preinstalled using a software called unattended cd creator (nlite).... try other xp version such as xp sp2....
