screw silence.. look for something reliable . however it may be tough to find that since even the best have their share of failures :lol:
i have 3 WD drives that have never given me any problems(touch wood). they have taken quite a few knocks and bangs over the years as well
the difference is slight.. or so anandtech benchmarks say ;)
a64 is not that underpowered to come to a screeching halt if you load a few apps at the same time
it does seem a bit less , i get a memory bandwidth score of 3300 for my ram thats running at 150Mhz
can you use a diagnostic utility like cpu-z to confirm that you are running in dual channel mode ?
another explanation could be that there are too many process running in the background...
how high does your transcend ram overclock at the moment ? getting premium ram to run at 240fsb at low latencies will definitely give you a boost but its up to you to decide if its worth it or not :lol:
2gb seems a bit pointless in todays world.. might actually be slower in some cases
darky i suggest if you can you test out the rams on your board before buying it since i heard that the asus a8n-sli can do a max of 240fsb with the memory at 1:1 , not too sure though but i have the same problem with my a8v (via chipset) if i use a divider i'm able to reach a very high htt but...
antec truepower series are much better than generic 500w powersupplies , so no problems even if you get a lesser capacity
recommend at least a truepower 430W, should be enough to meet your needs
if not go for a powersafe/kunhar 500W smps which should come close to 3k , great option as well
