vista beta has nothing to do with it if u have that drive with NTFS system and u r the admin than u can deny permission to nyone for any file/folder/drive. only admin can alter that permission.
and if u don't have NTFS file system in that drive and u don't want to convert it to one either...
lock the drive , aye ?????
why don't just got to computer management and remove the drive ???
or simply deny all rights to the drive via security tab ???

may be :
* the media is bad (try washing it:p ).
* u r using XP (with integrated SP2) it doesn't works 4 every board. try a cd without sp2:cool:
sorry dude, got a bit late. but u did the sure-shot thing reinstall the OS(the best way to restore ur pc).
that thing happens to drives (hdd or rom/writer) when it starts to work in PIO mode instead of DMA (check in device manager).
all rom/writer now support DMA2 while HDD supports DMA5...

i was to display my "wap site", but due to unavailability of GPRS signals i hosted the site on a college pc (over IIS) and broused the pages on my n3650 and my fren's nGage using the dongle(IVTbluesoleil).

installing the video & sound driver is a plus and improves the performance a lot.
one way to install them is to run them in compatibility mode (of XP of'course). Although its not a guarenteed way but it almost always works.
I've done that and it was fine.

just put the xp cd u installed the os frm. it should contain the sp2 (else u'll have to find a friend with xp-sp2 cd or just sp2)

some third party softwares are also available which make separate partition (not visible to user ) solely for the purpose of data restoration
