Try Nicky's pages. I've compressed many movies using Virtual Dub. It is by far the best. You'll have probs inthe beginning but once if you rip a movie, then ripping will be a breeze. Jus get the codecs installed and choose the correct bit rate[depending on the quality of movies you want].

You will not ahve any problem with the lens. It is after all a mechanical prob. It does occur in other drives. Jus call the LG customer care

Re: Which DVD Writer is best? Don't buy Sony DWQ30A DVD Writer. I bought it in November last. It screwed up. Buy Samsung or LG. My friends are using it and they have no probs.
