I don't think 6.5k for 15.6" 1080p display is too much. It'll be hard to find a display that cheap in India, and then you'll have to find someone to do the repairing. Even aliexpress shows price as $60 which comes to about 4k and you may have to pay custom duty on that plus the repairing cost.
Thats so freaking stupid. Add DRM to everything and ruin it. It's the end user who has to suffer, and most people can't differentiate between fake and genuine adapters. Just because they cannot solve an issue, they shift the problem to the end user. And most of the times genuine adapter users...
It has tons of issues. The CPU gets stuck at freaking 498Mhz. It has happened to 2 different Dell 3558 (google it, it seems like common issue with dell).
1) What is your budget? (INR or USD)
Under 50k.
2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
15.6". Willing to consider smaller sizes if the specs are better.
3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?
Graphic design mostly -...
Its not a gaming or work build, but its as important if not more. I'll be primarily using it for automatically backing up my phone and my computers. I want the backups to be reliable, which is why I don't mind paying a bit extra for peace of mind.
Sorry for going offtopic, but how are you importing from Amazon? Is it some mail-forwarding service? How much extra are you having to pay for shipping + customs?
Hey, thanks for the suggestions. Just saw more information of the components you mentioned and I noticed the motherboard is a micro-ATX whereas the case is a mini-ITX. Wouldn't that be a problem?
Also, would you recommend I go with stock fan? Or should I go with a better cooler/fan considering...
1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: I'll be using it as NAS.
2. What is your overall budget? If...
USB 2 devices hardly go above 20-25MBps. At best you'd get around 30-32 MBps.
My USB 3 WD Passport gives me around 70MBps. On linux with ext4, gives around 80MBps
You are not taking into account the recent decision made by HP to sell off their PC business. HP probably isn't a good decision, until we know what's gonna happen to their PC business.
Yes, bios update didn't make any difference for me. I'll uninstall the proprietary drivers and try open-source drivers once again when I can afford some downtime. I'll post my findings.
Not true. VGA_Switcheroo works fine for most of the people. It's the muxless stuff that's causing the problem. I'll try looking more into it when I'm free and experiment with stuff.
Guys, if you are a linux user or spend most of your time on Linux, this laptop is not for you.
Why, you asked?
1. Brightness keys won't work. It took me a while to solve the issue, this blog post helped me.. The reason is ACPI implementation is not supported by linux.
2. Bad battery life...
