Sujoy, I am not taking 16-35 to Rajsthan. No fund right now. Also, I have to give a second thought(and maybe many more) before investing so much. I considered 16-35 because its a zoom. A zoom gives lot flexibility. But cost is a big issue. Had there been a great glass(like 50mm G) 24mm prime...

No. Not both. I take D610 mostly. Dad prefers X-E1 because its compact, has dial and great manual focus assist and really really easy to use. And "all the time"? I hardly get time for photography outing :-( Apart from some portrait sessions with friends and family, I managed to go out only a...

Yeah the Fuji X-E1, already said that in previous post :-o No offense taken :-) You are right. These gears are capable of producing much much better output. I am far from using their full potential and I know that. Lack of time you know! But hopefully, I shall be able to take better photos when...

Fuji XE1 is my favorite camera. Its a pleasure to use :-) I am saying this after using many APSc and full frame Nikons! To get the most out of these DSLRs, I have to process from RAW(correct the WB, color, brightness, midtones etc), which takes time. Fuji just nails it. Everytime! Fuji's...

A no-nonsense, no fancy hardware, no larger than 14', intel based laptop with good battery and build

Re: A no-nonsense, no fancy hardware, no larger than 14', intel based laptop with good battery and b Yeah. I have heard so many positive things about thinkpads that I'm already inclined to it :) But I'm considering B490 also.

Re: A no-nonsense, no fancy hardware, no larger than 14', intel based laptop with good battery and b Video encoding is not much of a concern. I may need to convert occasionally to prepare my own dataset(for testing my computer vision algorithms), in case suitable dataset is not found...

Re: A no-nonsense, no fancy hardware, no larger than 14', intel based laptop with good battery and b @all, thank you for your kind responses :) With my budget, I can't get a light-yet-powerful-13inch-with-good-battery-life laptop. They are marketed as ultrabooks and cost a bomb. So, next...

A no-nonsense, no fancy hardware, no larger than 14', intel based laptop with good battery and build

Hi I urgently need a laptop. My requirements are: 1. Good battery life(more than 4hrs) in normal use in lower brightness. 6cell battery a must. 2. Good build quality. 3. Solely for development in Linux platform, so no fancy harware like dGPU and no AMD cpu/apu. 4. Fairly powerful. (Intel...

DishTV set top box -- some doubts.

I have a three year old DishTV connection. The Set-top-box(standard definition) has become very unreliable and I want to buy a new one. I have recently recharged for almost 15 months. Is it possible to buy a new set-top-box and continue to use old connection?(I don't to loose 15 months...

BSNL broadband plan revision and speed increase

Hi, I recently stumbled upon a report that BSNL has revised their mnimum speed to 521kbps from 256kbps, effective from 20th May. Could anyone please confirm if it is true? I am asking about West Bengal circle. If it is the case I shall get the "BB Home Combo ULD 650" plan which will give...

    Buying a DSLR

He does not need 39 AF points for good photography. Period. Sensor is only marginally better. Burst shooting is also only marginally better. And you don't need burst shooting capability for good photography. Period. No question of D3100. It sucks big time and is much much inferior to D5100...

    Buying a DSLR

Being old doesn't mean its bad. His budget is 40K and D5100 is the best bang for buck. The best combination I can think of, in his budget is: D5100 + 18-55VR kit --- 26K 35mm 1.8G DX lens --- 8k Total --- 35k max. The 5K he saved, can be used later to buy accessories like tripod/better...
