Asus x79 Deluxe Unboxing - Bringing The Bling !

I am quoting and replying here, since you have publicly taken my name and made certain claims based on your assumptions. That is why I have to clarify a few things. First of all, I do not work for Asus, I don't need to honestly and no Asus hasn't hired me either. I am not biased towards any...

Asus Z87 Deluxe : Mainstream Flagship - Unboxing & Closer Look

It's a well known fact that Asus caters to the Gamers & Overclockers through their ROG series but that doesn't mean their Mainstream lineup is neglected. Take a look at this Z87 Deluxe board and you will understand what I am saying. Feature packed to the core! Fulfills almost all requirements of...

    Overclocking after ages....

Yes delidding helps because since the IHS is not soldered, the heat transfer isnt optimum. Once you delid, you can mount the cooler directly on the core which results in much better heat transfer.

    Overclocking after ages....

The Engineering samples which came out from Intel just before and after the launch were different beasts altogether. These chips could hit 7 GHz and there is also a possibility that one of the Retail rogue ones could also do that but the chances are pretty slim in my opinion. The reason for the...

    Overclocking after ages....

Haswell responds well to cold. Although there is a lot of variation in the chips. Some chips will do 6 GHz and above while some will struggle to go past 5.5 GHz. Haswell overclocking isn't all boring and dead. Yes it is pointless on Air or Water because they do get hot with additional voltage...

    Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z + AMD FX9370 Testing

Hello, As the title says, I got the Asus Crosshair V Formula - Z and AMD FX9370 to test. I decided to do Air/Water/LN2 benching on this platform. Afterall this is a flagship chip from AMD and I think it deserves that level of attention and effort and so does the board. A few words about the...

AMD FX 8320 + Corsair H60 Cooler = High Temperatures

You don't need to spread the thermal paste. Just put a blob in the centre of the chip and the cooler pressure spreads it evenly. Also avoid using nail polish remover for cleaning thermal paste. Best to use iso propyl alcohol or ethyl alcohol.

AMD FX 8320 + Corsair H60 Cooler = High Temperatures

Hmm, tried updating the bios to the latest one? Tried bumping the vcore slightly and then tried? Also why not try cinebench 11.5? That too is cpu intensive.

Is that with all stock settings?

    c2q temp difference

That cooler is capable of handling a Quad at higher voltage and speed. You will require a far better cooler if you want stable overclocks.

AMD FX 8320 + Corsair H60 Cooler = High Temperatures

The temperatures look fine to me. Why are you concerned ?
  16. darklord

    c2q temp difference

Since its running prime for a while, maybe it has stabilized but the temps aren't looking very encouraging at full load. I am assuming you are on a stock cooler. If yes, it is a good idea to invest in a decent CPU cooler if you do plan to keep using the CPU at these speeds for a longer period of...

    c2q temp difference

Try bumping the vcore slightly. What are the full load temps.?
  18. darklord

    c2q temp difference

Coretemp and Realtemp read temperatures off the on chip sensor whereas BIOS reported temps are taken off the sensor in the socket but on the board. I would rely on Coretemp or Realtemp for realtime core temperatures instead of relying on Bios temperatures. @ OP, Temps look ok. I would still say...
