You don't need that high ram. An AMD one will be cheaper, wait for seniors to give you detailed specs and fill the questionnaire.

At this price, only options with powerful processors are gaming laptops so basically you will be paying unnecessarily for gfx card too. Better build a powerful desktop & get a reasonably powerful laptop both in 1.5lakh.

2 friends of mine are software developers in Hyderabad. Both are using 16 gigs ram, op might need more but 8-16 is good enough.
I'm a Software developer too. One size doesn't fits all. Also 32gb RAM is not outlandish anymore. OP has mentioned using multiple VMs. When he mentioned he wants 32 gigs , telling him otherwise seems absurd to me.

There are are business focused models available. Companies doesn't advertise about it much. ex Dell Precision Lenovo Thinkpad series.

Thanks for your suggestions. I dwelled on it and was excited on building a somewhat powerful high-end rig (almost finalized the specs). BUT then wisdom prevailed and I am back to Laptop-only purchase mode. Reason is simple, regularly I need to travel with the computer for my work. I am a trainer.

I looked at P51 and P52 (mobile workstation laptops from Lenovo). I am ok to spend even 2 Lakh if the specs are great (something that will survive for next 5 years). But unfortunately, did not find any Lenovo store in Nehru Place Delhi market selling them. Seems like online is the only option for them but I cannot buy online for some reasons. Only store purchase is allowed. Any further advice/ ideas? Thanks.

Thinkpads are good but it depends on specs what you get. Sometimes it might be cheaper to buy a non Thinkpad/Latitude/Precision laptop with additional warranty.

I'd recommend buying Dell G7(1.2 lakhs) or XPS 15(1.4 lakhs), buy 32GB RAM (sell existing 16GB) & buy additional warranty. From what I remember, Dell asks for 5k per year of additional on-site warranty (no ADP) but sometimes there will be offers. Also, upgrade Win10 if needed (they have Home pre-installed).

Lenovo P52 at 2.1 lakhs has almost everything that you ask for except Thunderbolt 3 (those 2 Dell ones have it). No need to tinker anything.
Lenovo ThinkPad P52 Mobile Workstation | Next-level power to create | Lenovo India

Also, if you have someone at US/CA/EU, laptops are cheaper there & Dell supports warranty transfer. So that's another option.

Call lenovo customer care, most likely these workstation models are considered as "business class" & not "consumer class" product & hence not available at typical lenovo stores.

Btw you can place the order online & then pay at the time of delivery as per lenovo's own selling portal,is it really much different than buying offline.

Called them. It won't work. Pure online.

Try at Dell then, their delivery network is better & if you show interest in buying a business class product they may have some way to do it offline.
