Spiderman: Homecoming comes out this Friday and Marvel wants to hype up their fans before its release. Although a lot has already been revealed through the numerous trailers, the four-minute clip shows Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) personal vlog before the big battle with Captain America. It’s not clear whether the movie begins with this clip but it sure looks like it’s going to be present in the initial part of the movie. The clip doesn’t enter spoiler territory, as in, it won’t spoil the movie for you. If you want to keep things clean without the knowledge of these four minutes, then don’t watch the clip. We would suggest you to stop reading from this point on because we are going to discuss the clip right after the video.
Most of the clip is a video shot by Peter Parker himself vlogging his journey from Queens to Berlin that leads to the airport runway showdown in Civil War. Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) is seen all grumpy around overly excited Parker throughout the clip. Favreau already said in an interview with Cinema Blend that he’s “looking after him” in the movie, suggesting that he has a crucial role to play in the movie. Initially, Parker hardly has any idea why he’s being taken to Berlin and all he knows is that Captain America has gone crazy. He does carry his handmade suit along which he wears when Happy asks him to suit up. This is the moment where Parker gets his special suit, all thanks to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), mentioning in a postcard as a “minor upgrade”. We clearly know that it isn’t a “minor upgrade”.
The clip moves on to the airport battle scene where Parker keeps recording himself as the two sides assemble to take each other out. This is where the clip becomes familiar if you’ve watched Civil War and as Iron Man summons Spiderman, he swings out and takes away Captain America’s shield. The clip ends with Tony’s car while Parker is being dropped off at his place. Tony allows Parker to keep the suit with him and mentions Happy being kind of his “point guy” and not to stress him out. The clip ends with an awkward not-a-hug moment which you’ve probably seen in one of the trailers. The above video also contains several trailers and clips stitched at the end which you can skip if you’ve literally watched every trailer and TV spot from the movie.
If you were being a rebel without worrying about any form of spoiler, whether you watched or didn’t watch the clip, you now realise that the four-minute clip wasn’t really spoilery. Nonetheless, the trailers have already given out what feels like most of the movie and we do hope there’s a lot more to watch (apart from the post-credit scene). It would be interesting to find out Spiderman’s bigger role in the Infinity War or whether he even has one.
