App of the Week: Zophop

From live bus timings, bus passes to train schedules, you get it all under one app that could be the only public transport app you’ll ever need in India

Public transport can be a hassle to even the most seasoned travellers among us. Figuring out the correct bus routes, where to change trains and even the correct fare can be a hassle and cause unnecessary delays when you can’t deal with them. While m-indicator has been a reliable solution for people in Mumbai, now Zophop is providing the same facilities to almost every major city in the country.

Zophop features

The app includes timings and route details for almost every major public transportation system in your city. For instance, in Mumbai, you get bus, train, metro, monorail and even ferry details. You can even bookmark your favourite routes and they’ll constantly show up on the main screen. And at any given point of time, you can see the details of cabs near you as well as public transport stops. But one of the best features of the app, something that is gradually catching on, is live bus timings.

Zophop features

Real-time tracking for 5,000+ buses operated by BEST, CSTC, NNMT, TMT etc is available for Mumbai, Kolkata and Nagpur. The information is obtained via crowdsourcing – as in, you need to check in on a bus from a certain bus stop to indicate its location. Think about it like a Waze but for buses. If you’re wondering that this will never catch up, guess what? It already is. Although information availability is limited for certain cities like Kolkata, it is expected to catch up pretty soon.

Zophop features

Along with all these features, the app also has a Nearby section where you can look up the nearby bus stops and train stations on the map itself, as well as the live locations of buses. And did we tell you that you can also purchase passes on the app?

The Zophop mobile app is available on the Google Play store and provides information for 15 cities in India. Overall, Zophop could very easily be the one stop solution to fulfil your public transport information needs in India.
