What’s new in Fox’s X-Men Universe?

For starters Maise Williams is set to join the cast of the New Mutants as Wolfsbane. Also, there’s a new show called The Gifted about – you guessed it – mutants!

The new show, called The Gifted, revolves around a family who has to go on the run after they discover that their kids have mutant powers.

“Another?” some of you might be asking, considering they made an X-Men spin-off show which released earlier this year called Legion. It actually did pretty well and was received with critical acclaim.

You can watch the teaser for The Gifted down below but you really can’t glean too much from it. It’s basically a teaser of a trailer. We’ll have to wait till the 15th of May if we want to learn anything more about the show.

Here’s the teaser:

In other Fox-related X-Men news, as reported by the Hollywood Reporter, Maise Williams (of Game of Thrones fame) has gotten herself a role in the New Mutants movie, another X-Men spin-off.
A neat thing about her role is its semblance to her role of Arya Stark from GoT. Not only is she the second ‘Stark’ to join the X-Men Universe (Sophie Turner, a.k.a, Sansa Stark will be in X-Men: Dark Phoenix as Jean Grey), her role in the movie has her playing Wolfsbane, a mutant who can turn into a wolf. Yep, Arya Stark will be able to turn into a wolf in the new X-Men spin-off movie.

New Mutants

Alongside Maise Williams, we know that Anya Taylor-Joy, from the movie Split, has also been confirmed. She will be taking on the role of the sorceress Magik.

Another neat thing worth pointing out is that Magik is Colossus’ sister. And as we all know he spent a good amount of time with our favourite Regenerating Degenerate. Meaning there’s a chance that the Merc with the Mouth and the New Mutants will have a crossover in the future. As far as we’re concerned they should put Deadpool in all the X-Men movies.

New Mutants is set to release on April 13, 2018.
