Have you ever heard of Final Fantasy? Of course you have. Most gamers have heard of, if not played, at least one Final Fantasy title. It’s that big. After Final Fantasy XV was hyped last year, pretty much everyone should know about it. Because of the hype, it should come as no surprise that there’s a TV drama based on Final Fantasy as well. Final Fantasy 14: Daddy of Light is expected to air in Japan this April, and Netflix is set to premiere it worldwide this fall. You can watch the trailer below:
Daddy of Light?
The title isn’t just for the lulz though. The show is actually about a father and a son who bond over the game. There’s expected to be a good mix of both human drama and gameplay from Final Fantasy 14 in the show, with characters from the game making frequent appearances.
Also, it’s supposedly based on a true story – the heartwarming sort. We’re thinking if you’re a Final Fantasy fan, you might like this show. Heck, if you’re an MMORPG person, you might still dig it. Also, we can’t help but point out how this looks like amazing advertising for Final Fantasy’s MMORPG. We’re quite sure they’ll get quite a few subscriptions out of this.
Japanese Netflix users are expected to be able to check the show out by April 20. The show will also air on Japanese TV channels MBS and TBS from April 16. The rest of the world doesn’t have a date set yet, but as we mentioned, it should drop sometime in the fall.
