Whatsapp navigation - is there a bug?

In Whatsapp, when I got to Contacts and select a contact to view or send a message, if at this screen I just return to previous, Whatsapp takes to me Chats screen rather than Contact List screen from where I advanced to View Contact.
I suspect this is incorrect navigation. Is this how it is?
I am using Whatsapp 2.17.190.

It is how it works now.
Contact list is now not a tab, it is an "extra" option which you click and then it closes. So you are taken back to Chat section.

Obligatory, WhatsApp sucks.

i always use Whats App and i like it ,, its easy and quick ))
