have a friend who has problems connecting to the internet.
His config is : P 4,60gb hdd,windows xp pro,D-link external modem .
Software: Kaspersky antivirus personal v5.0.372,zonealarm firewall pro.

Problem: He has a problem connecting to the internet i.e. as the modem is just about to connect to the net the computer restarts.
Initially i assumed it was a virus so i scanned the comp after updating his virus def's thru the local folder update in kaspersky.
However it showed no viruses . Again i tried connecting the internet but it would not connect (BTW he has a dial-up mtnl connection) and this happened a couple of times. I also tried scanning his comp with spybot S&D and ad-aware with no spyware detected. Otherwise the comp works perfectly well.
Please help.

i aslo d'ont know if there is any trigger, I did scan the pc with both Spybot and ad-aware.They did not detect anything. I tried hijack this as well but to no avail.
I also installed the latest drivers for his modem i.e. D-link DFM 560ES 56kbs model.
The only program installed prior to the incident was spyware blaster.
I also noticed that the task manager showed 4 instances of svchost.exe with 2 being identified as local services and 2 as network services, while earlier there were only 2 instances. I installed process explorer which i got from chip cd to see if any one of those was the guilty party. But through it's detailed info i came to know that these are windows processes.
By the way what are these processes and what are their functions.
Any other solution would help.
