Hi,

Based on the requirement in the title and my budget, I have found these two choices:

Buy HP 15-be020TU 15.6-inch FULL HD Laptop (6th Gen Core i3-6006U/4GB/1TB/FreeDOS 2.0/Integrated Graphics), Sparkling Black Online at Low Prices in India - Amazon.in

and

Buy Asus Vivobook X541UA-DM1358D (Intel i3 7100U (7th Gen) / 4 GB DDR4 / 1TB / Intel HD Graphics / DOS / Silver / 1 Year Warranty / Silver Online at Low Prices in India - Amazon.in

Kindly advice.

Both the laptops have just just one DIMM slot. The Asus one has a 7th gen i3 vs a 6th gen one on HP.

I feel like opting for the Asus one. Any final tips/advice?

You can use it for expanding ram. Pre-installed 4 GB ram is actually soldered.

Seller says you need to remove the RAM to expand it!

And is there any real advantage of 7th gen i3 vs the 6th gen one?

Official site says otherwise
ASUS VivoBook Max X541UA | Notebooks | ASUS India

Memory
1 x SO-DIMM socket for expansion, up to 12 GB SDRAM
4 GB DDR4 2133MHz SDRAM Onboard Memory

There is no noticeable difference in their performance.

I doubt gigabit port on laptops are common as most laptop specifications don't mention if its a 100 Mbps one or 1 Gbps one.
My 2009 Dell laptop had gigabit lan port & it is not mentioned just like now-a-days nobody mentions usb port as 1.1,it is assumed that by default any usb port is 2.0.Any laptop model that skimp on gigabit lan port is simply not worthy enough unless it compensates by providing some other feature which is not present in any other similarly priced laptop(which is very difficult to achieve). However I will never buy any laptop without gigabit lan port because to me it shows the poor focus of manufacturer on quality & we all know cost cutting especially in electronics never yields good results(try finding a desktop mobo without gigabit lan port now-a-days,if major mobo manufacturers are not focusing on non-gigabit lan then why would they pay any special attention to laptop mobos they are contracted to made for cheaper rates).
