External Harddisk Not Working

    I have Transcend Storejet 25 mobile that stopped working. It makes click!!, click!!, noises and doesn/t get detected by windows. how can i make it work? i want my filesback. Any good recovery software in such case.

    looks like the platters got stuck. try shaking the drive a bit.

    I tried shaking the drive but it does'nt work.

    It looks like your hard disk has crashed.

    If you ever get a chance to see the data, use the TestDisk software to recover the data.
    It is always advisable to have a backup copy of your data.

    Send the drive for RMA if it is still under warranty. You can't do much here.

    if noise is coming it's a sure case of mechanical faliure.

    Send it to RMA asap.

    ^^ mate if windows is not detecting the HDD, then how can OP apply any of those recovery softs.

    @OP, mate i think RMA is your only options left, if in-case you HDD gets detected in windows, then you can try those recovery softs.

    ^I have suggested the software for data recovery.
    if HDD is not detected in windows OS then OP can try Linux for detection

    @OP, first check if you HDD is detected in the BIOS then check in windows

    Useless in this case. These are very use for accidental deletion, partition & come sector or platter failure. I don't think any software will work with a HDD which is having mechanical problem.

    ^^ +1 Check whether your HDD shows up in the BIOS first. If it doesn't, then no other option left to you. Then send it to RMA.
