Been there and done all that, it is as if, suddenly, the other monitor disappears from recognition once in a while.

Please remind me how this is done. I kind of remember some sort of tool or app that one can run that dumps all that information into an ascii file. I recall that when I was trying to track down a virus on an anti-virus web site, they had some utility that gave all that information.

Why would my desktop suddenly stop recognizing my second monitor and how do I fix it? When I start my computer, the BIOS message appears on one monitor in my dual monitor set up. But when the computer login message appears on my windows operating system, it appears only on the other monitor...

The Ubuntu system I just installed does not automatically connect to the Internet. This, I think is because I go through a router. Do I have to set up the network proxy preferences by hand? Is the HTTP proxy the same thing as the http address of the router?
