you can place it vertically no problem. just make sure it doesn't move around during normal operation.. my hard disk's running that way too. won't affect perfomance in any way
given your situation.. the PATA option is best.. since you don't seem to think that's a very good idea(why?!?!) the next best would be USB.
if you go with a PCI sata card, you will have to install drivers for the card in windows setup from a floppy diskette.. its a hassle.
Re: Macworld Conference and Expo 2008
i still dont know folks. one thing's certain though.. after i get my notebook.. everytime i fly, i'll find someone with a macbook air.. sit next to them.. open up my 0.25" thicker macbook pro.. and plug in usb drives, play crysis, and watch DVD movies and...
Re: Macworld Conference and Expo 2008
oh noooooooo!!!!!
no optical drive for the macbook air. more importantly.. no dedicated graphics circuitry. :( means me still has to get the macbook pro.
coming to that!! no penryn yet.. no blu-ray drive... :( :( bittersweet keynote this year...
you can just replace the internal hard drive.. should be around 4500-5000 Rs maybe.. get an 2.5" IDE drive. the other choice is to use a desktop hard drive.. as for power, you'll get an AC power adapter with your hard drive cabinet/converter.. so it'll run off that.
Hi!! I'm thinking of sharing an ADSL line wirelessly through Wi-fi with my roommates. All of them use PC's running windows.. but i plan to buy a macbook pro shortly.. i heard some routers don't support mac's.. so when i get my router i want it with mac support.. and windows support.. you guys've...
I don't know.. i'm running a 350W SMPS on both computers... and one of those online calculator things show i need ~280W... so unless the quality of the SMPS itself is a prob..
I put together a desktop from parts purchased today.. a P4 dual core 3.0 ghz, an MSI motherboard.. 1 gig ram.. and a PCI-E 8600GT video card. the trouble is.. when i boot it up.. it turns on, after a few seconds, turns off, and then turns on by itself again.. but there's no display. keyboard...
I've a rig running an Athlon64 socket 754, 1GB ram and a 6600GT. I'd like your opinion on which upgrade you think is better :
(a) the cheaper option being change my card to a 7800GS AGP
(b) switch to socket 939, get a new mobo, processor, and preferably two 6600GT's for SLi
I'm on a...
I'm planning to get myself an Acer notebook which runs a AMD turion 64 processor. I've heard there are heating issues with this processor. Has anyone experienced anything? Does anyone have information on this issue?
Thanks in advance!!
Hey!
I've got myself a creative Inspire t7900 + the DDTS100 Dolby decoder from creative. I've used the optical cable to connect my computer's audio out to the decoder and i do get sound, but the sound's very minimal from the rear speakers even though i've set my decoder and speakers to upmix...
yea you can put in 2 cards of 1 gb each.. though you can check what the max for your mobo is.. though at present.. for running windows xp.. 1 gb is fine.. for normal tasks.. 2 gb is sorta superfluous.. as for compatibility.. get a good brand like transcend.. . as far as i know, asus doesnt have...
well... basically... computers are more sensitive to changes in the power supply.. even if there's a slight dip they tend to restart.. so UPS's either have more sophisticated switching circuits so that the time taken to switch to battery in case of a power cut is lesser, or they supply power...
well.... i think your current config is fine.. you have free IDE channel for your 80GB hard drive.. so that should be the fastest... the lag shouldnt occur normally... unless you're booting up from the old hard drive????
definitely need more info...
(i) there might be a short circuit somewhere... did you mount the motherboard properly? if its touching the metal case or something as a safety measure the PSU will automatically turn off.. that would explain the "jerk" of the CPU Fan
(ii) disconnect all other...
yes it is a problem with either the RAM or the mobo(northbridge) .... mostly the former....perhaps you could change RAM modules and try? or install Win98SE or something...?
