What all files did u exactly delete? There are many windows Xp files in C: that are used for booting... If u deleted some of those than my dear u'll need a fresh installation! Whats the error u'r getting... Be precise!

Thats probably bcoz of hidden system folders like "RECYCLER" and "System Volume Information". Check if u've sum files and folders in Recycle Bin.... or else system restore may be eating up some of ur hd resources.... Btw, its time to upgrade ur HD
