Should I upgrade RAM or get a new config?

I would be vary of buying DDR4 RAM, because you won't be able to carry it forward to AM5. But apparently older AMD don't support DDR5. In my opinion, I'd make the AM5 upgrade now, instead of buying more RAM now, and then more RAM again in a few years because you can't reuse DDR4.

Need help setting up my spare router in wireless bridge mode to extend wifi throughout my home

In general, the ISP router that comes with your connection is terrible, and you should always get the lowest tier thing they offer that can still saturate the upstream. Instead, invest in a router (TP-Link is my brand of choice currently) that plugs into your ISP router via ethernet and...

    the Arch Linux thread

I was looking into this, and I don't think my monitor supports HDR, so I might be SOL until the next big upgrade a few years down the line. (I just upgraded to 1440p in Diwali)

    the Arch Linux thread

Raytracinginvulkan uses an older version of imgui or something like that. you need to recompile it with your current system to work again. I don't know, I have no idea how to turn it on, or even check if its working.

Brainstorming: Ideas for a regularly scheduled threads.

Something like your upcoming games thread ( *geek.digit.in/community/threads/which-upcoming-game-are-you-excited-to-play.208402/ ), but the first post should be edited to reflect whatever is the current state of the quorum.

I just finished a first run of Baldur's Gate 3. A beautiful game. Currently starting Mass Effect (remastered) for the first time, and also playing the original Grid (reached farther into that carreer than ever before).

    [Want to Buy] NAS drives

In this day and age, really do get at least 4 TB for anything serious (people will tell you 8 or 12, but 4 works for small scale use cases)

    the Arch Linux thread

Ooh, necrobumping. I know its usually against rules, but I'm trying to be more active on the forum again so I'm doing it anyway. Mesa 24 was just released on Arch linux (coming soon to other distros near you), bringing the AMD cards up to performance parity in RT workloads with their windows...

Brainstorming: Ideas for a regularly scheduled threads.

Something like one thread for "upcoming game you're most excited about", another thread for "upcoming mobile you're most excited about", and have that serve as the perpetual current "top 10 upcoming things" family of threads on the forum.

Brainstorming: Ideas for a regularly scheduled threads.

It might be a nice idea to to have something like "upcoming thing you're most excited about". It could be a revolving collection, we could keep removing things that get released from that roster.

Expense Manager/Money App cross-platform (Android, Web)

I'm quite heavily invested in hledger these days. It comes with an optional TUI and a WebUI as well. The only problem, I haven't been able to find a good companion mobile app for it.

Require a Simple, Free software for splitting Huge videos.. (around 3-6GB size)

I just use ffmpeg, but I have to look at the documentation whenever I have to do something out of the ordinary. I could craft you a command if you tell me, but losslesscut looks like a fine choice (FOSS, uses ffmpeg in the backend).

Your views on the influx of AI like ChatGPT?

Can we please stop using "hallucinate" in this context? GPT straight up lies. It doesn't hallucinate shite. Oh god please no! I've been arguing this for so long, but people are apparently too dumb to understand xD Not "advertiser friendly", but PR friendly, I'd say. Nobody wants their AI...

Your views on the influx of AI like ChatGPT?

Yeah, idk why the digit forum now collapses URLs with ... And the AI might give you something which works, or something which straight up refuses to execute, or something which runs but gives you wrong results and you don't know why. Then you'd call up a python expert to look at it, and he'd...
