Any feedback for Transcend StoreJet ext HDD ?

My Dad has the 1TB version and the only complaint is that the micro USB 3.0 connector on the cable goes loose. The clamps don't clamp at all.

Is it safe to use laptop without earthing ?

This used to happen on my age old Compaq Presario C505. It had metal speaker grilles and back then we had faulty earthing at home. I used to get a shock at the speaker grilles. We fixed the earthing, the issue went away and the laptop is still working after 6 years. The thing I don't...

    USB 3.0 HDD issues

New discovery: I have this cable, it has a USB 2.0 male on one side and USB 2.0 female on the other side and is almost 15cm in length. An extension. I used that to connect the HDD and it works. Although slow. So this is not a power issue I guess. Or is it?

    tv safety

Yes. Other than providing battery backup, it did everything. Line filter AVR and what not. Whenever there was a fluctuation, I could hear it click. That thing has a HTPC drawing power through it. My place used to have a lot of fluctuation 2 years ago. Nothing happened to the TV and the HTPC...

I used a Aplab PowerBook UPS with a dead battery for my Samsung Series 5 LCDTV back in India. I didn't replace the battery as I found it very convenient to leave the UPS power switch to ON and just use the wall socket switch to turn the thing ON. LOL! It is still working flawlessly and its been...

@Silverlight: I guess they're talking about internal drives in the blog, but still, WD external HDDs fail at the mini and micro USB ports. Earlier drives could be put to use by swapping out the casing, but the newer ones have the micro USB ports soldered on to the PCB and it takes a lot of skill...

Cost? Is sapphire really more reliable than Xfx or any other brand? I am looking for a robust card that will not get damaged easily. I don't care how big it is or how much noise it makes. It should last really long.

I've been using PCs for the last 9 years now. I know how to access the sound settings from the control panel. But the page where we select speaker type as we used to in winXP is nowhere to be seen in Windows 7.
