It's for my elder bro. He has a tough beard and asking me what electric shaver would be best. Frankly after searching Panasonic and Philips (and some Brauns) I have NO idea what are good and what are bad! So if anyone here uses one already please advice me one. Budget probably is 4-5 k. And waterproof is preferred.

Thanks in advance.

Saurav.

i am not at all satisfied with electric shavers, because we are forced to shave dry and it is a painful experience during and even after the shave. Never ever buy a dry shaver.try this wet shaver by Philips (Philips - AquaTouch wet and dry electric shaver DualPrecision blades Flexing heads - AT890/16 - AquaTouch - Shavers - Personal care). This one can shave wet but Remember to use very light pressure while shaving else you WILL have an uncomfortable shave and skin burns.

Thanks for informing on the dry shaving part. But will that be irritating with light beards too? I mean I'm asking for me. I shave once or twice max a week and my beard is very light. And is wet shaving possible only with water, or foam/gel needed to be applied? It's really time consuming to apply all those stuffs!
Btw, thanks once again for that link. However while I was searching their website yesterday found it attractive and bookmarked it already :) and will suggest it to my bro.

How old are you? Once you start shaving your beard grows thicker and thicker. If you are a teen better use Gillette Mach3/fusion (Gillette Fusion Power Men) with Gillette shave Gel.( nothing comes close to these not even this . Oh and by the way you can use shave gel/form in wet electric shavers

I'm not teen, I'm 24.
And I actually use Mach 3 Turbo with Gillette shave gel ;)

Mach 3 is one of the best :)

I was on it before shifting to Gillette Fusion, with Gillette Fusion Shaving Cream.

Instead of Electric Shaver get one Gillette Fusion and Gel / Cream / Foam whatever you prefer and you are nice.

Once you use Gillette you wont look at any other brands.

Thanks Krisnendu. But it's not me, but my bro, who needs to shave daily and quickly as his work place is far from his home.
I'll keep using my Mach3 anyway, it's really smooth and great.

Hi ithehappy,

I bought a panasonic ES-4036 shaver some two months back. I looked out and compared many models before buying it and finally decided to go with this because it matched my budget and had good reviews also. I used it exactly for two shaves only. I previously got used to trimming my beard with panasonic ER206. I trim/shave only once in a week and my beard is a bit rough(because of countless razor shaves). Compared to trimmer, I felt this shaver takes hell lot of time. Also, it doesnt shave long hairs. You need to trim it to small length first and then shave it(helpfully, it comes with a built in popup trimmer). Finally after some online research i came to know that all electric shavers are like that only. I have decided to stay with my ER206 trimmer only (saves me a lot of time though close shave is not possible).

i think electric shavers are useless for rough beards! Atleast the 2k 3k ones... Mayb the costlier ones are good! So think twice... Razor shave is really good, but your beard gets tougher and tougher with time which we can avoid by using a trimmer (no idea about electric shavers though!)... If you are looking for a trimmer I can vouch for the ER206.. Just go ahead and get it... :)

btw, I din know wat to do with the shaver i bought and listed it again for sale in ebay(i bought it in ebay only!).. mayb you can check if you are STILL interested... ;)
